Sessions
Sessions are two hours. Please note that the
times are approximate, some may be a bit shorter, others a bit
longer. I also offer 90- minute sessions.
What happens in a session?
You lie on the comfortably cushioned floor. Traditionally, sessions
start at the feet and work up to the head. If you have not just
showered, I will provide a towel for you to wash your feet before
we begin.
In Thai Massage, I use my hands, elbows, forearms,
feet and knees during the session to knead, rotate, press and
support your body. If you have no particular limitations, you
llie on your back, stomach and side and sometimes sit up during
the session. At the end, you are welcome to take your time letting
the work settle in before returning to the flow of the day.
What should I wear?
Unlike Swedish Massage where you remain more or less stationary,
Thai Massage is done fully clothed without oils. Please wear comfortable,
loose fitting clothing without extra pockets and zippers. I have
blankets and a heater if you tend to run cold. You are also welcome
to bring a sweatshirt or sweater.
Can I eat before a session?
It is important to not eat a big meal beforehand. If you must
have something to eat within an hour of your session, please make
it something light and simple. Thai Massage gets your system moving.
It is important to drink ample fluid afterwards and to get a good
night's sleep if at all possible.
Are there any contraindications?
It is important to let me know if the session is taking place
during your menses or if you have any chronic or congenital conditions,
from neuromuscular pain to any heart conditions, varicose veins,
asthma and so forth. This way I can adapt the session to your
needs and avoid any work that might aggravate your situation.
What is unique about your work?
I work patiently and rhythmically with intention, inviting the
unwinding of tensions, listening to what is happening in your
body, and exploring edges and deeper layers of tissues with stability
and safety but without force. I have continued my studies of Thai
Massage well past my initial training, integrating new material
and a deepening my ability to work confidently. At the core of
my work is the knowledge that the body functions as an integrated
whole. As the work progresses, patterns reveal themselves more
completely and can be addressed altogether. |
